BASIL J. SUITTER HOULTON – Basil J. Suitter, 71, died March 22, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1933, at Houlton, the son of Albert F. and Olive (McCordic) Suitter. Basil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He worked as a mechanic for many years and was employed by Lawrence Callnan, Moore Chemical and Maine Potato Service. He also was owner and operator with his wife, Mary, of “Mum’s”. He had a great love of his family, music and playing the guitar. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Lee) Suitter of Houlton; seven children, Bill Hardy of Houlton, Tim Hardy of Lincoln, Mike Hardy of Houlton, Basil Suitter of Hodgdon, Sheila Hovey of Houlton, Ellen Watson of Ohio, Carey Suitter of East Hodgdon; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Suitter Jr. of Liberty; three sisters, Edith Bostelman of North Carolina, Leta Noble of Connecticut, Pearl McQuarrie of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two children, Bob Hardy, Lisa Marie Suitter; and two brothers, Clarence and Vernon; and one sister, Evelyn. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Dunn Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in the Littleton Cemetery.
