FRAMINGHAM, MASS. – G. Scott Armstrong, 44, of Framingham and Lexington, Mass., died Sunday, March 20, 2005. Scott was born Dec. 22, 1960, in Boston, the son of Glenn and Jane (Freitas) Armstrong of Harrington. Scott was a chef at hotels and restaurants in the Cambridge, Mass. area. He was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1978 and received the National Merit Scholar award. He was a sprinter for the high school track team. He was a life scout of the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed backpacking, hiking and camping. He was an avid lover of dogs and enjoyed long walks in the woods. He loved to cook and had a flair for food preparation. He also loved to dine out. Mr. Armstrong also was a graduate of Bard College in N.Y. with a degree in fine arts. He was an accomplished artist. He was a member of the intercollegiate frisbee team. Scott will grievously be missed by his family and many friends from all over the country. In addition to his parents, Mr. Armstrong is survived by a son, James Capone of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; his sisters, Lea Norton and her husband, Bill, of Hopkinton, Mass., and Ty Miller and her husband, James, of Boulder, Colo.; his aunts and uncles, Lyd and her husband, Paul Vernaglia, of Winchester, Mass., Marion Armstrong of Wycoff, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Jessica Hendron, Chris Hendron, John Hendron; and cousins, Larry Vernaglia, Brian Vernaglia, Kathy Rickard, Barbara Armstong and Doug Armstrong. He was the former husband of Georgina Poravis. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., corner of Union Avenue, Framing-ham, Mass. A funeral service will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, in the Faith United Methodist Church in Columbia followed by a graveside service in the family lot at Forest Hills Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Scott’s memory may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 444 Route 1, Columbia, ME.
