SEARSPORT – Baxter “Toby” Ward, 59, died Dec. 28, 2007, in Belfast. He was born June 5, 1948, in Belfast, the son of Baxter and Doris (Littlefield) Ward. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Lynda (Fowler) Ward of Searsport; three loving children, Bryan Ward and wife, Kate, of Connecticut, Anne West and husband, Todd, of Deer Isle and Scott Ward of Portland; one special granddaughter, Emily Baxter West of Deer Isle; one brother, Jeff Ward and wife, Donna, of Belfast; three sisters, Donna O’Leary and husband, Darrell, of Belfast, Dale Kocot and husband, James, of Belfast and Brenda Smith and husband, Owen, of Belfast. Baxter is also survived by his mother-in-law, Esther Fowler of Searsport; sister-in-law, Sharon Sawyer of Wiscasset; brother-in-law, Jay Fowler and wife, Jane, of Lamoine; brother-in-law, Dale Fowler and wife, Jane, of New Hampshire. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a large extended family and innumerable friends, whose lives he touched in a variety of ways. A celebration of his life will be held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at his home in Sears-port. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Hospice of Waldo County, care of Waldo County Healthcare, Inc., P.O. Box 287, Belfast, ME 04915, in appreciation for the care given to his mother. Arrangements are by Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport.
