SEAL HARBOR and RUCKERSVILLE, Va. – Beatrice Grindle Atwood Walls, born in 1914 to the late Nathan Grindle of Blue Hill, and Georgia Varnum Grindle of Seal Harbor, passed away March 15, 2004. Bea is survived by her first husband of 24 years, Francis J. Atwood of Seal Harbor, and second husband of 12 years, Reginald Walls of Otter Creek. Bea as she preferred to be called, was born March 4, 1914, in Seal Harbor. She attended school at Northfield, Mass., and resided in Seal Harbor for 81 years. While residing in Seal Harbor, Bea raised her family, worked at the Miller Gardens, she was a librarian for many years and postmistress for 13 years. Bea was also an active member of St. Mary’s-St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, Northeast Harbor. In 1999, Bea moved with her son’s family to Ruckersville, Va., where she joined Grace Episcopal Church, Stanardsville. Bea is survived by two children, Joel T. Atwood of Ruckersville, Va.; and a daughter, Suzanne Atwood Burch, Central Falls, R.I. Additionally, she is survived by 10 Grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Bea had one goal and that was to celebrate her 90th birthday and then move on to a better place. Everyone who knew her will remember her sense of humor. She succeeded in this objective going to be with the Lord. May the Lord Bless and Keep her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Greene County Rescue Squad, Stanardsville, Va.
