WINTERPORT – Beatrice Ann Stanley, 85, wife of the late Robert E. Stanley Jr., died Oct. 13, 2007, at her home. She was born May 3, 1922, in Columbia Falls, the daughter of Edward S. and Iva B. (Allen) Noonan. Beatrice moved to Massachusetts, as a child and attended school in Malden, Mass., until she began working to support the family. She married at age 18 and moved to Bremmington, Wash. Being homesick, she returned to the East to be near her family and would marry two more times and have seven children. Beatrice worked many jobs over the course of her life, including nursing, leather working, shoe manufacturing, being a homemaker and most of all, a mother. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by seven children, Joan E. Proctor, Victor Leneski and Patricia Stanley, all of Winterport, Joseph Leneski of Massachusetts, Katrina Knox of New York, Joyce Derenzo of New Hampshire, and Robert Stanley of California; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Noonan of North Reading, Mass.; two sisters, Jane Tomanek of Illinois, and Margaret Ballantine of Iowa; many nieces and nephews. As we reflect on the times that we remember her best, it seems she was always enduring a test. Of life changing moments a loved one had faced or the choice of a path that was taken in haste. She watched all of her children as each found their way and each of the seven knew where their place lay. In the heart and the mind of a women who knew each child as a flower with its own special hue. She left us so quickly but she’s not really gone, as she’s in all of us so her beauty goes on. In the quilts she made, the clowns she sowed. The wisdom and humor she showered through her days, is in each of us and displayed many ways. She lives on in her children and in their children as well, and all the great grand’s the uniqueness we’ll tell. Of this very special person with a heart made of gold who left with us memories to cherish and hold. Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Private burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, Mass.
