DOVER-FOXCROFT – Yolanda Antonietta Milton, 86, wife of the late Karl A. Milton, died Oct. 14, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, after a short illness. She was born June 1, 1921, in Decollatura, Italy, the daughter of John and Teresa (Falvo) Scalzo. Anne, the oldest of nine children, came to the United States with her mother; and brother, Mario, to join their father in 1927. She worked from the time she was 16 years old and held many jobs in her long and productive life. During World War II, she made shell casings at Bridgeport Brass. She worked at Stowell Mac-Gregor Spool Factory, Maine Leather Tannery and cleaned for several area families. For 27 years, from 1959 to 1986, Anne devoted herself to caring for her husband, Karl, who had been crippled in an accident. Caring for him at home gave her a great deal of satisfaction. Most recently she had volunteered at Meals For ME for many years, with many of her friends. Anne is survived by two sons, John C. Milton of Manchester, N.H., and George Scalzo of Florida; three sisters, Gloria of Danbury, Conn., Mari Scalzo McGrath of Venice, Fla., and Louise of Canada; three brothers, Mario of West Point, Miss., Richie of Danbury, Conn., and Bobbie of Connecticut and Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Janet Milton of North Carolina, and her family, Charlotte, Dawn-Marie and Jarrod; many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her dear friends, Phyllis Weatherbee and Marilyn Hill, both of Dover-Foxcroft. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Karl; a stepson, Charles; and two brothers, John and Harry. Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until time of funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating. After the service friends and family are invited to share fellowship and stories at Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church Chapel. Burial will be in the family lot at Gray Cemetery.
