HARTFORD and MANCHESTER CONN. – Beatrice C. Stebbins, wife of the late William J. Stebbins, formerly of Charleston, lately of Hartford and Manchester, Conn. and Warren, Mass. died peacefully Saturday, Oct.1, 2005, at the Marlborough healthcare center Marlborough, Conn. She was the daughter of the late Laforest Curtis, of Old Town and the late Ella Pye Curtis. She was raised by her loving stepmother, the late Addie M Curtis. She was a 1950 graduate of the Higgins Classical Institute of Charleston and Husson College, Bangor. She was employed by the Annie Fisher School in Hartford, Conn., where she ran the reading lab for many years. She is survived by her children, Herbert Stebbins and his wife, Elaine Reichardt Stebbins, of Warren, Mass., William Stebbins and his wife, Judith Stebbins, of Portland, Conn.; and her daughter, Martha S Nickerson and her husband, George, of Ellington, Conn. She also leaves her six grandchildren, Elaine Rutkauski, George Reichardt Jr., William J. Stebbins II, Christopher Stebbins, Tyler Stebbins and Jourdan Stebbins – they were the pride of her life; and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Curtis Clark of Brewer; her brother, Thomas Curtis of Stockton Springs; and a dear longtime friend, Teresa Dubay of East Hartford, Conn., along with several nieces and nephews in Maine and Connecticut. She was predeceased by her brother, Laforest Curtis Jr. and Doris Rozelle. Following a celebration of her life at South United Methodist Church, Manchester Conn., she will be buried in the Veteran’s Cemetery with her husband in Middletown, Conn.
