LIMESTONE – Beatrice Emiline (Shorey) Philbrick, 71, wife of the late Frederick Fawcett Philbrick, died peacefully at her home Jan. 13, 2004. She was born May 30, 1932, at Aroostook, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late William and Jeanette (Furge) Shorey. She attended Aroostook, N.B. schools until she married Frederick Philbrick on Dec. 28, 1948. She resided in Limestone on the family farm until her death and throughout her life she worked for the Limestone Potato Growers and performed janitorial services at the hospital on Loring Air Force Base. She worked many long hours on the family farm and in the potato house with the growing and harvesting of many potato crops. She was an avid gardener, always raising a vegetable garden every year. She was especially proud of a beautiful row of peonies on her front lawn and she was extremely fond of tender garden lettuce and beefsteak tomatoes. She loved to cook, being well known for her soups, stews and pasta dishes. She loved children and baby-sat for several years. She enjoyed knitting mittens, stocking and blankets for her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, in May 1981 and her mother and father in 2002 and 1980 respectively. Surviving are two daughters, Leona (Philbrick) Michaud and her husband, Gerald, of Limestone and Jane (Philbrick) Sullivan and her husband, Clayton, of Fort Fairfield; one son, Jesse Philbrick of Limestone; five grandchildren, Wade McLaughlin of Rumford, Audrey (Sullivan) Cyr and Ryan Sullivan, both of Fort Fairfield and Fred and Louise Philbrick of Limestone; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen Frances (Shorey) Behling and Melvin of Houghton Lake, Mich.; one brother and sister-in-law, Wendell Winston Shorey and Myrna of Perth-Andover, N.B.; one special aunt, Cora Finnemore of Red Rapids, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wade McLaughlin, Audrey (Sullivan) Cyr, Ryan Sullivan, Fred Philbrick, (her grandchildren) and Scott Cyr. Friends may call 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at the Limestone Methodist Church, Main St., Limestone, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield later in the spring. A time of fellowship will be held at the Limestone Methodist Church, immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Philbrick to the Limestone Methodist Church Sunday School, 45 Burleigh Ave., Limestone, ME 04750. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
