ALTON – Beatrice E. Pressey, 76, wife of Merton C. Pressey died Dec. 10, 2004, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in New Sharon the daughter of the late Samuel N. and Susannah (Enman) Enman. She was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1945. She retired from the University of Maine at Orono in 1993. Bea was a member of the Old Town United Baptist Church and was a very active member of the Bangor-Brewer Christian Women’s Club for 40 years and served as president four times. Bea loved to travel and go camping. She enjoyed family get-togethers and was the peace maker. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Merton of Alton; sons, David Pressey and his wife, Stephanie, of Bangor, Alan Pressey and his wife, Lora, of Pittsfield; daughter, Linda Wood and her husband, John, of Alton; a very special sister, Shirley Marshall and her husband, Robert, of North Windham; brothers, Floyd Enman and his companion, Beverly and Bruce and Carolyn Boyker, of Farmington; two daughters-in-law, Robin Pickering of Greenbush and Amy Fortier of Bangor; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed by “Buddy and her “Canadian friends” and all those whose lives she graced. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Baptist Church of Old Town with the Rev. Bruce Stevens, officiating.
