CALAIS and BARING – Lydia Brooker, 88, died Dec. 10, 2004, at a Calais hospital. Lydia was born March 11, 1916, in Baring, the daughter of Horace and Hazel (Howland) Polleys. Lydia at one time was very active in Sunrise Chapter, O.E.S. Upper Mills, N.B. She was a life-long member of the Baring Baptist Church. Lydia will always be remembered as the Baring Post Mistress at the Baring Post Office and for her many acts of kindness. She will indeed be missed with many happy memories. Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Alvie, in 1992 and three brothers, Stephen, John and Albert Polleys. She is survived by one son, Dana Brooker and his wife, Margaret, of St. Stephen, N.B.; one sister, Phyllis Hachey of Lewiston; two grandchildren, David Brooker and his wife, Melissa, of Hampton, N.B., and Julie Hartford and her husband, Orville, of New Hampshire; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, by Pastor Robert Oliver. Burial will take place in the Baring Cemetery.
