BANGOR and BREWER Beatrice Witham Kelley, 91, died March 16, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. She was born Nov. 21, 1913, in Bangor, the daughter of Warren A. and Annie M. (Brawn) Arbo Sr. She was predeceased by her husbands, Donald “Tony” Witham and Albert L. Kelley; brothers, Chester Arbo and Malcolm Arbo. Bea attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1931. She was one of the first crossing guards at the Chamberlain Bridge in Brewer; an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bangor; and a lifetime member of the Millwee Chapter No. 198 Order of the Eastern Star of Orrington. She was a resident of Brewer for 46 years, Glenburn, 10 years and Bangor. She also spent two years in Hartford, Conn., during World War II where she and Donald worked at the Colt Firearms Factory. In addition while Donald served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, she and Rena Witham owned and operated a small restaurant in Brewer. Beatrice retired from Sears Roebuck in 1974. Surviving are a son, Arthur David Witham and his wife, Lynne, of Little Deer Isle; a daughter, Nola P. Connors and her husband, William, of Otis; three grandchildren, Morgan Witham of Little Deer Isle, Dr. William Connors of Somerville, Mass., and Michael Connors and his wife, Elizabeth, of Amity; one great-grandson, Aidan Henry Connors of Amity; one brother, Warren Arbo and his wife, Harriet; a sister, Dorothy McLeod and her husband, George, all of Eddington; and their families. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Stephanie Salinas, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bangor, officiating. Spring interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, 56 Center St., Bangor.
