BROOKSVILLE – Belford E. Redman, 69, died April 5, 2006, at his residence. He was born March 25, 1937, in Castine, the son of Russell L. and Jesse (Perkins) Redman. Bel worked for Maine Maritime Academy for 36 years, retiring twice. He enjoyed giving of his time with any community projects and helping friends at any time. Bel especially loved going to the Saturday night Grange suppers. He enjoyed lobstering, collecting guns and was an avid hunter. He made model boats, which he sold and gave to friends. He loved his family and grandchildren who will miss Grampa very, very much. He is survived by his sons, Stephen Redman and wife, Anne, Randy Redman and wife, Julie, both of Blue Hill; daughter, Katherine Fortin and husband, Henry, of Bangor; grandchildren, Misty, Eric and Monique; brother, Lawrence Redman and wife, Elaine, of Castine; sisters, Dorothy Veilleux and husband, Fred, of Fairfield, Beverly Bridges and husband, Anthony, of Bucksport, Sandra Wight and husband, Donald, of Penobscot; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Kip Leach. He was predeceased by his wife, Diane; and a son, Jon. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Union Church in Harborside, with the Rev. Harald Smedal officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill.
