BELFAST – Belle M. Young, died Nov. 17, 2003, at Harbor Hill Nursing Facility in Belfast. She was born Oct. 13, 1915, the daughter of Emerald and Raymond Mosman. Belle was a life-long resident of Belfast. She and her husband of 64 years, Frederick “Bud” Young, founded Young’s Lobster Pound in 1937, and worked side by side for many years. She loved to go fishing and caught the largest halibut in Penobscot Bay, 420 lbs., with her husband. It was a high point in her long fishing career. Belle loved to talk with her customers. She enjoyed hooking rugs, needlework and loved squirrels and birds. She also liked to go for rides in the country. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Belle and her husband are featured in the Third Edition of the History of Belfast. Belle was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Albert Mosman, Walter Mosman; her husband, Frederick “Bud” Young; and a daughter, Belle M. (Young) Snow. She is survived by her son, Robert R. Young Sr. and his wife, Claire; one daughter, Polly A. Schinella; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Crabiel Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, with the Rev. David Abbott officiating.
