BRADLEY – Benjamin Clare Glidden, 78, died Feb. 11, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Bradley, the son of Vernon and Maude (Wilcox) Glidden. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received several medals; the Victory Medal; American Theatre Medal; European, African, Mideastern, Theatre Medal; the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal and the Point System Medal. He also served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and the U.S. Coast Guard for 19 years. Mr. Glidden was employed with the state of Maine for 22 years, retiring as a supervisor of maintenance at BMHI. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and won numerous awards. He loved boating and his flower garden and his camp at Molasses Pond. He had been a resident of Bradley all his life. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude “Trudy” (Wood) Glidden of Bradley; five daughters, Linda Laney of California, Dawn Spinney of Bangor, Sharon Robertson of Veazie, Linda Davis of Plymouth, Suanne Glidden of Bradley; one son, Thomas Glidden of Bradley; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hermon Baptist Church with the Rev.
