MEDFORD and SHERMAN – Benjamin E. Sprague, 79, died Feb. 5, 2005 at a Brewer health care facility after a short illness. He was born Sept. 2, 1925, to Benjamin and Annie (Ingalls) Sprague in Winthrop. He served in the Navy in World War II and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9429 of West Enfield and the American Legion Post 0097 of Howland. He is survived by his wife Virginia Sprague of Medford, three sons, Thomas Sprague of Holden, Danny Sprague of Leeds, Christopher Sprague of Medford; two stepsons, Dennis Lockwood of Connecticut and Tim Lockwood of Florida; six stepdaughters, Linda Albert of Sherman, Annie King of Levant, Elaine Neilander of Hampden, Amber Young of Glenburn, Cindy Jones of Boothbay, Phyllis Wolf of Clifton; one nephew, Charles Heath of Stacyville; 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph; a sister, Alma; and his parents. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Memorial Alternatives, 1225 Broadway, Bangor with the Rev. Charles Heust officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be held following the service at 71 North County Rd., Hampden.
