FORT KENT – Berna (Tardif) Audibert, 87, died Jan. 21, 2008, surrounded by her family, at Forest Hill Manor, a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born Dec. 26, 1920, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Willie and Edith (Sirois) Tardif. She was the wife of the late Leopold J. Audibert. At the heart of her life were her faith and family. All other interests and activities mattered little compared to the love, care and devotion she had for her family. In her moments of leisure, she enjoyed cooking, listening to spiritual music, traveling and playing cards with family and friends. Berna was a parishioner of St Louis Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne for many years and in 1999, she was awarded, Mother of the Year. She could be best described as a prayerful, gentle, kind and gracious woman. She was such an inspiration to everyone around her. Mothers in the St. John Valley were fond of the quality care she provided for their newborn children in the nursery at Northern Maine Medical Center, where she worked for several years. Berna was recognized in the community as a very proud and distinguished looking lady. She had an eye for fashion design and beauty. Despite her enduring illness with Lewy Body, she rarely complained or despaired, instead she remained patient and hopeful. She was most concerned about the needs of others than those of her own. Berna is survived by her three sons, the Rev. John Audibert of Falmouth, Philip Audibert of Everett, Mass., and James Audibert of Falmouth; her three daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Charles Nadeau of Dunedin, Fla., Suzelle and Ronnie Jandreau of Fort Kent, and Michelle and Bruce Harvey of Houlton; her 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three brothers and sister, Clayton of Madawaska, Bernard, Angelo and Angela LeClerc, all of Connecticut. Berna was predeceased by a daughter, Virginia; a son, Francis; a sister, Delores Moreau; and five brothers, Monfort, Ronaldo, Reginald, Magella “Jerry” and Viateur. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Interment will take place May 9, at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Berna’s memory to St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or Forest Hill Activities Fund, 25 Bolduc Ave., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
