MADAWASKA – Bernadette “Bedette” Yvette Thiffault passed away Nov. 27, 2005, in Madawaska. She was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Sigfroid and Marie (Pinette) Madore, originally of Fort Kent. She leaves behind three children, one son, Peter Thiffault of Frenchville; two daughters, Dawn Maximov of Carson City, Nev., Jean Cayer of Madawaska; three grandchildren, Eli Cayer of Portland, Tara Lee Gerson of Santa Monica, Calif. and Amber Olson of Hollywood, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Madeleine Shea and Charlie Michele Gerson of Santa Monica, Calif. Bernadette was predeceased by her loving husband, Alphonse Felix Thiffault, and by six sisters and five brothers. At the age of 50, along with her husband, she operated a Montgomery Wards Catalog Agency for 15 years. She truly loved singing with the St. Thomas Aquinas Church choir for many years. She was an avid bowler, card player, reader and was a wonderful cook. Sewing was a passion that clothed an entire family. Always willing to try new things, it was no wonder that she was able to enjoy a trip to Europe at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Daigle Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or to the local hospice organization. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
