DIXMONT – Bernard A. Wheeler, 82, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at home. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth, on Oct. 27, 2004. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara; a son, Vernard and wife, Holly, of Carmel; daughters, Gloria and husband, Leroy Hurley, of Delaware, Darlene of Bangor, Sara of Dixmont and her fianc?, Tom Smith, of Thorndike; daughter-in-law, Kathy Whee-ler of Dixmont; brother, Harlan Wheeler of New York; sister, Doris Barney of Waterville; sister-in-law, Angie Wheeler of Macwahoc; brother-in-law, Enoch Parks and wife, Anita, of Hartland. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His final weeks were spent in the loving care of his wife, Barbara; daughter, Sara, and Tom, who tended his every need around the clock. Until recent years, he was an avid fisherman, going out at dawn and fishing Maine’s streams, rivers and lakes. He was always a lover of nature and the beauty of the wilderness. He also enjoyed woodworking projects and making furniture in his garage. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring at the time of his burial.
