DOVER-FOXCROFT – Bernard C. Bishop, 101, died May 27, 2008, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft, after a very short illness. Until April 22, he had been very fortunate to live in his own home. Born March 27, 1907, in Kingman, Bernard was the son of Featherson and Eva (King) Bishop. He attended school in Kingman and moved to Dover-Foxcroft around 1925, where he continued to be a life long resident. He worked as a mechanic in Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft. He later became owner and operator of Summer Street Garage, Dover-Foxcroft, until he retired 44 years ago. Bernard was the holder of the Boston Post Cane, which was presented to him at his 100th birthday party, where he was celebrated as the oldest resident of Dover-Foxcroft. Bernard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Edna (Robinson). They were blessed with a long marriage of 74 years, until her death in 2005. He was also predeceased by his infant son, Ronald, in 1933; and his infant daughter, Marilyn, in 1939. He was the brother of predeceased sisters, Lou Currie, Grace Jenkins and Maude Currie. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Dwyer and her husband, Bill, of Merrimac, Mass.; his grandson, Stephen of Merrimac, Mass.; his granddaughter, Erin Cormier and her husband, Darrell, of San Diego; and two great-granddaughters, Reese and Avery Cormier of San Diego . Friends are invited to call 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Ray Beless officiating.
