FORT KENT – Bernard J. Nadeau, 82, died April 18, 2005, at his resident. He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in St. Francis, the son of the late Charles and Rosalie (Dube) Nadeau. Barney was employed by the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad as an engineer for 45 years. After his retirement he took care of Pleasant Heights Apts. He was a member of the Franciscan Association and a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. “Barney worked as if everything depended on him and prayed as if everything depended on God.” He was known for his kindness and generosity. He was devoted to his family, church and community. In 2001, Barney and Jackie were honored with the dedication of Nadeau Hall Building in their memory at the UMFK Campus. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline M. (Doucette) Nadeau of Fort Kent; one daughter, Louise M., of Dallas, Texas; five sons, Charles A. and his wife, Margaret, of Pinellas Park, Fla., Roger B. and his wife, Janet, of South Portland, Roland D. of Austin, Texas, Daniel A. of Kittery, and Robert P. and his wife, Joyce, of Westbrook; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Irene Cyr and Mae Martin. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, in Fort Kent and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent with the Monsignor Leopold Nicknair officiating. Spring burial will be held in the parish cemetery May 18, 2005. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME.
