ELLSWORTH – Bernardin Raoul Giguere, 80, died Aug. 11, 2006, in Ells-worth. He was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Westbrook, the son of Alcide and Aimee (Lessard) Giguere. Bernardin was the oldest of eight children. He grew up in Lewiston and attended St. Dom’s School. Bernardin entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. He owned and operated his own Texaco station in Newburyport. Bernardin enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years. He also loved the hunting trips with his brothers and he was an avid stamp collector. Bernardin enjoyed playing golf until his knees gave out and he also played semi-pro hockey. He was a former councilman in Newburyport, Mass. and past president of the Newburyport Kiwanis. Bernardin was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, served on the Sheridan Council No. 1036 of Knights of Columbus, belonged to Trenton Post No. 207 of the American Legion and VFW Post 109 of Ellsworth. Bernardin is survived by his wife and soul mate of 34 years, Carolyn L. (Teakles) Giguere; stepdaughter, Suzanne Bagnell and her husband, Dana, of Wenham, Mass.; stepson, Thomas C. Heaphy Jr. and his wife, Neusimar, of Salem, N.H.; granddaughters, Mich-aela Heaphy of Salem, N.H. and Mandi Giguere Wills of Amesbury, Mass.; grandsons, Kevin Giguere of Dan-ville, N.H. and Mark Giguere in the U.S. Air Force of Okinawa; three sisters, Yvette Demers of Auburn, Murial Sampson and her husband, Walter, of Westfield, Mass. and Nancy Barnes and her husband, Robert, of Chicapee, Mass.; one brother, Maurice Giguere and his wife, Alice, of Chicopee, Mass.; brother-in-law, Robert Desrocher of Chicopee, Mass.; many nieces and nephews, especially a great-niece, Hailey Giguere; very special friends, neighbors and the Thursday night poker pals. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Glenn in 1999; sisters, Rita Morin of Lewiston and Bertha Desrochers of Chic-opee, Mass.; and his brother, Raymond of Chicopee, Mass. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Interment will be at North Beverly Cemetery, Beverly, Mass.
