EAST MACHIAS – Bertha H. Kennedy, 92, passed away March 30, 2005, at Down East Community Hospital after an extended illness. She was born April 22, 1912, in Jacksonville, the daughter of the late Henry and Alvina (Huntley) Bryant. Bertha was a member of the Jacksonville Grange No. 358. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and bingo. She was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel A. Lund; second husband, Alexander Kennedy; daughter, Octavia; a granddaughter, Dale Miller; and a stepson, Robert Kennedy. Bertha is survived by her son, Henry L. Lund and wife, Rita; stepchildren, Kathleen Kennedy and husband, Lloyd, Irene Porter and husband, Alfred, Carroll Kennedy and wife, June, Ethelane White and husband, Wilbur, and Charles Kennedy and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Coralie Gunther, Allen Lund, Harriet Doherty, Clayton Dowling and Lewis Dowling; sister, Edna Greenlaw; brother, James Bryant; several step-grand-children; many great-grand-children, great-great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the Jacksonville Grange at a later date in June to be announced in the Machias Valley Observer. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
