LINCOLN – Bertha Louise Hartford, 86, wife of the late Clarence George Hartford, passed away Jan. 17, 2005, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Springvale, the daughter of Carl and Berniece Allen. Bertha devoted her younger life as a mother to her children. She worked at the Rosebowl Restaurant in her later years, as well as various other places. She loved the ocean. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Sylvia and Albert Haskell of Naples, Fla., Fred and Jo Ann Hartford of Burlington, Curtis and Barbara Hartford Sr., of Lincoln, Claire Jean and Barry Stanley of Medway, and Tim and Jill Hartford of Lincoln; a sister, Eleanor and her husband, Vernon Goan of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Clarence, who died in 1998, she was predeceased by a daughter, Freda Hartfor; a brother, Ernest Allen; and a sister, Ethel Merserve. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway.
