DEXTER – Bertha M. Fanjoy, 65, died April 6, 2005, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1939, at Dexter, a daughter of Charles and Christine (Braley) Pelkie. She graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1956. Bertha owned and operated Fanjoy Fuels for a number of years before she retired due to failing health. Previously she had been the office manager at Webber Fuel Oil in Dexter for many years. She was also the executive secretary of Plummer Hospital in Dexter in the 1970’s. She was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Dexter Town Council, and was instrumental in organizing the annual Dexter Days celebrations. Bertha will be remembered for her active involvement with the schools, especially Project Graduation, Sports Boosters, and the playground. She is survived by her husband, Roger of Dexter; three sons, Michael and wife, Brenda Fanjoy, Rob Fanjoy and fianc?e, Holly Weymouth, all of Michigan, and Roger, Jr., “Joe”, Fanjoy of Dexter; a daughter, Terri Walker and fianc?, Rick Johnstone of Appleton; four grandchildren, one great-grandson. She was predeceased by a brother, Allen, who died in 1941. A viewing and time of visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Graveside services will be held later in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
