CALAIS – Bertha M. Scribner, 93, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at a Calais nursing home. Bertha was born in Stanley, N.B. Canada, July 9, 1911, daughter of Eldon W. and Hannah J. (Sansom) Douglass. Throughout her life, Bertha was employed as a registered nurse. She was a member of Orion Chapter No. 45 O.E.S. and St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan Scribner; a brother, Donald P. Douglass; and a nephew, Robert Currie. Surviving, are a sister, Ethel J. Currie of Stanley, N.B.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, at the Calais Cemetery, Calais, with Sherry Sivret officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais.
