VAN BUREN – Bertrand V. Sirois, 75, died April 13, 2005 at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born April 7, 1930, in Keegan, the son of Joseph P. and Catherine (Levasseur) Sirois. Bert worked as a painting contractor in Connecticut until 1966 when he relocated to Van Buren and was self-employed as a potato grower and shipper until his retirement. He was a member of the Maine Potato Growers and also served on the parish council and finance committee of St. Bruno-St. Remi Parish for a number of years. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Wallingford, Conn. Bert is survived by his wife, Noella (Parent) Sirois of Van Buren; one daughter, Leah Marie Sirois of Bangor; one brother, Lionel Sirois of Van Buren; one sister, Velma Buck of Norwood, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Zoel, Alva, Claude, James and Emilien, and by three sisters, Pauline Deschenes, Constance Cote and Annette LeBrun. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Bruno Cemetery later this spring.
