MOUNT CHASE – Beryl Howes, 87, of Mount Chase, died Dec. 6, 2005 at Mount Heights Nursing Home in Patten. She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Sherman, the daughter of Thomas and Freda (Gillespie) Lawler. Beryl was a long time member of the Patten Grange and the Sherman Woman’s Club. She is survived by her five children, Coralie and her husband, Glenn Kennedy, of Patten, Frederick Howes and his wife, Sally, of Scarborough, Rita and her husband, Rance Palmer, of Patten, Debra Erickson of Libby, Mont., Greg Howes and his wife, Elena, of Houlton; one special daughter-in-law, Kathy Howes of Patten; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Kathleen McMannus of Patten, Katherine Springer of Island Falls and Lucille Popple of Middletowne, R.I.; many nieces, nephews and special friends, Lloyd and Jen Rigby and Doris Derespino. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Wesley Howes; one son, Ronald Howes; one sister, Coralie Lothrop. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Tae Sung Kang officiating. Interment will be in Mount Chase Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Patten, ME 04765. Beryl and family want to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Mountain Heights Health Care Facility. She was blessed by the care and attention of the “Angels” during her stay there.
