OLD TOWN – Bessie Moreau, 85, died peacefully July 17, 2004, at the Hawthrone House in Freeport. She was born April 18, 1909, in Ashland, a daughter of Fred and Adele (Loubier) Theriault. She moved to Old Town at a young age. She was employed by the Ounegan Mills and Carroll Cut Rate of Old Town. At the age of 50, she attended hairdresser’s school in Bangor and opened her own shop at her home on Howard Street in Old Town. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella. In later years she lived in the Bangor House and Oak Ridge Apartments in Bath. She was active in Bridge wherever she lived. She is survived by two sons, Reynold Moreau and his companion, Elizabeth Ames, of LaGrange and Edward Moreau and his wife, Gloria, of Bath; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, sisters, Edna Cyr of Old Town, Celestine “Tiny” Marquis of Bath; and a brother, Bernard “Fred” Theriault of Topsham. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfrid; and her middle son, Harold Moreau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon Tuesday, at Holy Family Parish, with the Rev. Joseph Koury, celebrant. Friends may call at the Birmingham Funeral Home 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of dismissal for church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
