TITUSVILLE, Fla. and BREWER – Betty (Eye) Peasley, 93, died Aug. 15, 2005, at Titusville, Fla. She was born June 23, 1912, in Calais, the daughter of Charles H. and Annetta (Gildart) Eye. Betty was a 1931 graduate of Shead Memorial High School and attended nursing school in Clairmont, N.H. She was an excellent pianist and organist, and enjoyed playing the organ for the Washington Street Baptist Church in Eastport, and she was able to play all styles of music including her favorite, “honky tonk”. She was a great cook, loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Betty was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, in Eastport. She had a religious background and attended a Bible study in Brewer with neighborhood friends. She moved to Florida in 1995, with her son, Charles, after living in Brewer for 45 years. She is survived by four children, Charles Cook of Florida, James Cook and his wife, Carol Greenleaf-Cook, of Dedham, John C. Peasley of Florida, and Jane Peasley of Clifton; one granddaughter, Jane Gruber. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Gruber. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Gertrude Stone officiating. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
