WINTERPORT – Betty Jane (Browne) Larby, 76, wife of Keith A. Larby, went home to be with her Lord May 23, 2008, while at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. She was born April 27, 1932, in Chicago, the daughter of George H. Browne, Sr. and Nellie (Kammen) Browne. Betty had made her home in Winterport since 1950 and worked for Rivers and Gilman of Hampden for many years, manufacturing canoes. She also was a driver for an automobile auction company. Betty was a very religious lady and enjoyed going to church and watching religious television. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Keith of Winterport; her children, Judith Ann Larby of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Kenneth A. Larby of Carrolton, Va., and Robert S. Larby of Bangor; four brothers, Ernie, George Jr., James and Phillip Browne; three sisters, Mary Crebo, Judith Browne and Ellen Comisky, all of the Midwest; five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Paul Browne. The Larby family thanks the staff of the Maine Veterans’ Home for the kind and loving care Betty was given during her stay. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev.
