PENOBSCOT – Betty Joann Haglund, 67, left this world peacefully Feb. 16, 2005, while her granddaughter “Beth” held her hand. She was born in Anna, Ill., Dec. 4, 1937, the daughter of Leroy and Tealie Nix Courtright. Betty worked as cashier for Rite Aid in Blue Hill for many years. She is survived by three daughters, Debra Yurchick of Blue Hill, Tami Matern of Burnham, Sophie Yurchick of Sedgwick; one son, Mark Palozej of Bucksport; 11 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Duggan of Penobscot and Carol Courtright of Virginia; and two brothers, Cecil Courtright of South Carolina and Bobby Courtright of North Dakota. Betty was predeceased by two sons, Steve Palozej Jr. and John Palozej; one sister, Marilyn Courtright; and two brothers, Forrest Buck and Terry Courtright. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and co-workers. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Jordan-Fernald Healey Funeral Home, 141 South St., Blue Hill.
