EXETER and DEXTER Betty Lou Buxton, 67, died unexpectedly July 14, 2006, at her Fairway Knolls residence. She was born April 27, 1939, in Exeter, the youngest of 12 children to Lyle and Eva (Cyr) Downing Sr. She attended Corinna Union Academy and was employed at Dexter Shoe Co. for more than 21 years. Betty was a past member of the Cleora Rebekah Lodge, Corinna and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Newport. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Henry Buxton, who died July 19, 2001; a sister, Althea; and three brothers, Lyle Jr., Maynard and Robert. She is survived by two sons, Kevin and wife, Karen and their son, Jason Clark, of Manchester, N.H., Scott and wife, Tracey and their children, Travis and Erica Buxton, of Exeter; two brothers, Alton and wife, Alice Downing, of Hermon, James and wife, Patricia Downing, of Exeter; five sisters, Zelma Issler, Delores Landry and Barbara Grimes, all of Massachusetts, Rita Bean of Corinth and Nancy Cyr of Greenville; as well as nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 59 Libby Hill Rd., Newport. Burial will be in the family lot, North Newport Cemetery.
