MARS HILL – Betty Lou Plummer Alexander, 77, went to be with her Lord, on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, after a brief illness at TAMC in Presque Isle. She was born June 8, 1927, the daughter of Leon and Kitty Plummer of Fort Fairfield. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1945, and graduated from Madigan School of Nursing in Houlton. She was employed as an LPN at A.R. Gould Hospital for many years and as a “Special” Ed Tech at Fort Street Elementary School in Mars Hill, until her retirement in 1994, where her art talents will always be remembered. She will be surely missed by the many students she touched as “Mrs. A” and the many who called her Grammie. She enjoyed the simple things in life, the outdoors, fishing and hunting, going to John’s camp, seeing the moose and deer, her humming birds and taking pictures of her many excursions. She had many “Moose” hunters in the family and was proud of each one as if she had got them herself. She was a beautiful painter and loved to sew, knit and enjoyed all kinds of crafts. She was very musical and in her younger years entertained by singing for the service men at the Presque Isle Air Base. Later she explored her talents even further when she sang and performed in several of the Presque Isle Lyons Club productions with her cousin, Danny Ladner (South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof and Sound of Music). She was happiest when her children and grandchildren called or visited and she would spend the entire year knitting socks or mittens for each and every one of them. She was a member of the First Free Baptist Church of Blaine, where she will be fondly missed.
