PITTSFIELD – Beverly M. Wilder, 84, formally a resident of Webb Road, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at the Dexter Health Care Facility after a period of failing health. She was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Newport, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Palmer Brewer and attended Palmyra schools. Beverly grew up on the family farm where she worked very hard with her family canning, haying and various everyday tasks. She was employed by Snowflake Canning Co. of Hartland and later worked for the Lessard IGA of Skowhegan and also was a cook for many years at the Palmyra Consolidated School. Beverly and her late husband, Maurice, spent much time at their summer home in Milbridge. Traveling to many remote places on the Maine coast was one of their favorite pastimes. She loved her family. She enjoyed knitting mittens and slippers for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took many trips cross country with her husband and family in their fifth wheel travel trailer. Some of the favorite adventures included Disney, Busch Gardens, Sea World in Orlando, Fla., and The Grand Ole Oprey, Nashville, Tenn. It has been said of Beverly that “She made the best white fudge you ever tasted.” She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Jack, of Pittsfield, Lucy Goodnite and husband, Sam, of Newport; three sons, Irvin Wilder and wife, Sandra, of Dover-Foxcroft, Carl Wilder and his wife, Susan, of Gray, Basil and his partner, Debra, of Debec, N.B., Canada; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Wallace Stackpole and his wife, Irene, of Cambridge; two sisters, Maxine Fitzgerald of Skowhegan and Dot Welch of Palmyra. Maurice Wilder, her loving husband of 60 years, and her two sons, Gerrish and Roger predeceased her. There will be a graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Palmyra with the Rev. Dana Perkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Beverly’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
