ORONO – Verna G. Jackson, 86, wife of the late Donald Jackson, died April 25, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of Clarence and Jessie (Granville) Stanley. Verna lived in Bangor and Hermon prior to moving to Orono. She was the owner/operator of the Jackson Beach recreation area for 25 years, was a former member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Bangor, a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 136 of Monroe, and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Orono. Verna is survived by her son, Lloyd Jackson and his wife, Trudy, of Elgin, N.B., Canada; one sister, Louise Briggs of Florida; four brothers, Robert Stanley and his wife, Alva, Avon Stanley and his wife, Clarice, all of Howland, Clarence Stanley, Delton Stanley and his wife, Annie, all of Topsfield; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor with Pastor David J. Natale of the Faith Baptist Church of Orono, officiating.
