BLUE HILL – Billy C. Hastings, 57, of Blue Hill, husband of Nancy (Butler) Hastings, died March 7, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 18, 1947, in Norwich, Conn., the son of William M. and Mertis M. (Randall) Hastings. Billy served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Ira Berry Lodge, the I.O.O.F. and was a lieutenant with the Blue Hill Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family and he enjoyed his time with his dog, Abbey. Surviving in addition to his wife of 37 years of Blue Hill are two sons, Randal and his wife, Andrea and Craig and his wife, Tarsha; his mother-in-law, Helen Butler; a special sister-in-law, Janet; nieces, Nichole and her husband, Shannon, Nancy, Kaiya and Meredith; his aunt, Nancy Randall; Goddaughter, Amy and her husband, Scott; his cousins, Courtney and Colby. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the First Congregational Church, Blue Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the Blue Hill Fire Company or the Peninsula Ambulance Service. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
