PITTSFIELD – Birdena T. “Bea” Lee, 98, wife of the late Joseph A. Lee Jr., of Riverside Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in Pittsfield. She had been a resident of Pittsfield since 1994. She was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Phoebe Ann Pelletier and William Theriault. She graduated from Ashland High School. She had been employed at Augusta State Hospital, also Stevens Training Center. Upon her retirement she was employed at Chernowsky’s Department store. She was also manager of a women’s hat store, Millinery Fashions, Water Street, Augusta, for several years. Mrs. Lee was a communicant of St. Andrews and St. Mary’s Churches in Augusta, a charter member of Daughters of Isabella, Riverside Extension, a member of the Retires Chapter of Maine State Employees Association and also Cushnoc Senior Citizens. She is survived by a son, William H. Lee; special daughter-in-law, Jean Lee of Pittsfield; two grandsons, Matthew L. Lee of New York City and Ryan J. Lee of Florida; two sisters, Addie Michaud of Athens, Ga., and Gertrude Beaulieu of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where officers and members of the Daughters of Isabella are asked to meet 6 p.m. to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be held after at Riverside Cemetery, Bangor Street, Augusta.
