HOLDEN and BANGOR – Ellen Elizabeth Jewell, 83, died Sept. 20, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Bangor, the daughter of Arnold and Celia Cole. Ellen loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed crocheting and traveling. She had many fond memories of working with her friends over the years at J. J. Newberry’s department store. She is survived by two sons, William Clarke and wife, Patty, of Exeter and Ernest Churchill and companion, Robin, of Florida; her dear companion, Jim Cameron of Holden; sisters, Gloria Fleming, Donna McCray and Erleen Sheldon; brother, Arnold “Stubby” Cole; grandchildren, Cindy, Joyce, William, Clarissa, Heather and Mandy; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Damon Clarke. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy Services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery.
