BINGHAM – Blaine Joseph Tibbetts, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Maine General Medical Center, Thayer Unit, in Waterville. He was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Bingham, the son of Austin and Stella (Adams) Tibbetts. He graduated from Bingham High School with the class of 1934. Blaine was married July 20, 1940, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bingham to Jeannette Hilton. He was employed by Central Maine Power Company for 43 years, retiring Nov. 16, 1980, as hydroelectric station supervisor at Wyman Station in Moscow, Williams Station in Solon and Harris Station in Indian Pond Township. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Bingham Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He and his wife, Jeannette, traveled extensively through the United States and Europe and for 14 years they spent the winter months in Arizona. He was predeceased by two brothers, Keith and Earl Tibbetts. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Hilton Tibbetts of Bingham; his sons, Gary Tibbetts and his wife, Bette, of Hampden, and Barry Tibbetts and his wife, Violet, of Bingham; grandchildren, Christopher Tibbetts and his wife, Julie, of Brewer, Kevin Tibbetts and his wife, Lori, of Winchester, Mass., Daniel Tibbetts and his wife, Kim, of Raymond, Mark Tibbetts and his wife, Kelley of Newmarket, N.H., and Jeffrey Tibbetts of Newmarket N.H.; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kade, Kobe, and Sydnee Tibbetts, and Chantzelor Wilde-Tibbetts; great-stepgrandchildren, Brooke and Zack Witham, and Sierra Loyd; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tibbetts of Bingham; a niece, Juanita McAllister and her husband, Jeff, of Bingham; great-niece and great-nephew, Kevin and Amy Tibbetts. A funeral mass will be celebrated, 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bingham with Father Georges Plante officiating, Interment will be later in the spring in the Bingham Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Bingham Union Library, P.O. Box 23, Bingham, ME 04920. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham.
