MARS HILL – Blanche B. Grass, 90, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Leisure Gardens in Presque Isle. She was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Knoxford, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of George and Jenny (Smith) Lawrence. She was the wife of the late Clarence R. Grass to whom she was married 66 years. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed as a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. After raising her children, she worked at the W.T.A. Hansen Memorial Library and the Mars Hill School Cafeteria. She is survived by two daughters, Veneita Shaw and her husband, Joe, of Mars Hill, Cathy Fitzgerald and her husband, Ronald, of Presque Isle; two sons, Nathan Grass and his wife, Genevieve, of Presque Isle, Robin Grass and his wife, Yvonne, of Caribou; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Roberta; a brother, Lewis; and two sisters, Thelma and Ina. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill with the Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place following the service at Kings Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill. Friends who wish may make donations to the W.T.A.
