LINCOLN – Blanche E. Tolman, 90, wife of the late Richard E. Tolman Sr., passed away Jan. 13, 2008, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born April 7, 1917, in Lincoln, the daughter of David Goodin and Hilary (McAlpine) Ireland. Blanche had fond memories of the education she received at Good Will-Hinckley School. She worked as a supervisor at Forster Manufacturing Co., Inc., Mattawamkeag, for a while, then worked at Fisher’s Market, North Lincoln. She then worked as bookkeeper for her husband’s logging business and enjoyed attending horse-pulling events with him at various fairs. She is survived by four children, Donna Lovett-Coffin and her husband, Kenneth, Richard E. Tolman Jr., Blaine Tolman and his wife, Sandra, and Phillip Tolman and his wife, Betty, all of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, Brent Lovett and Valerie, Sherry Britton and John, Gaye Kasprzak and Thomas, Lori Dulude and Richard, Ryan Tolman, Wade Tolman, Susan Oliver and Shane, Tammy Sereyko, Jill Tolman and Brad Cowan, Mark Tolman and Rachel, and Heather Tolman; 15 great-grandchildren, Jesse Birtz, Ben Lovett, Jared Lovett, Sean Kasprzak, Shannon Kasprzak, Chad Tolman, Alec Zerbonia, Regan Sereyko, Kolby Lovett, Danielle Neal, Lauren Neal, Garrett Neal, Kadyn Cowan, Ciara Tolman and Emily Tolman; two special nephews, David Goodin “Smokey” Ireland III and his wife, Donna, and Maynard Sawyer; sister-in-law, Geraldine Morse of South Carolina; brother-in-law, Alton Tolman and his wife, Delight, of Mattawamkeag; and a special friend, Thelma “Sally” Smith. She will be remembered by her special caregivers at Colonial Healthcare. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Courtney Tolman; sister, June Sawyer; and three brothers, David Goodin Ireland II, Charles Byron Ireland and Francisco Ireland. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating.
