HERMON and COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brenda May (Witherly) Badger, 59, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 7, 2008, after a prolonged illness at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was born April 18, 1948, in Hermon, to Elinor and Leroy Witherly. Brenda attended Hermon High School, graduating in 1966. She moved to Ohio in 1975 to an accounting job with Borden, Inc., which eventually lead to her becoming lead financial accounting coordinator of Hexion Chemicals. She was an avid collector of Ty Beanies, was a scrap-booker and crafter, and never missed a good game of bingo. Brenda never forgot her roots, always coming home to Hermon to visit her family, including her children, Oriel Badger, Kim Lippincott and son, Zachary of Bangor, and Angela and Peter Doan and son, Bryce of Clive, Iowa. She is survived by her mother, Elinor Witherly of Hermon; and was the eldest of five siblings, Blanche and Herbert Heal of Kenduskeag, Vivian and Charlie Wescott of Orland, Deborah and Ralph Millette of Hudson, Cheryl and Robert Eldridge of Hermon; as well as sister-in-law, Evelyn and Edward Smith of Carmel. Alfred Mitchell of Columbus, Ohio, was a dear friend and confidant. She was predeceased by her brother, George Witherly of Hermon in March 1994; and by her father, Leroy in November 2005. Many friends at Hexion and around the world honored her in a separate ceremony Jan. 9, 2008. No matter how sick Brenda was, she always had that beautiful smile. She will be sorely missed by all. A memorial service will be held noon Monday, Jan. 14, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where family and friends may visit 11 a.m. until the service begins with the Rev.
