CARIBOU – Brenice “Bea” (Wheeler) Robinson, 85, wife of the late Colby Carroll Robinson, passed away Sept. 3, 2006, at a local hospital. Born Feb. 18, 1921, in Presque Isle, she was the only daughter of the late Clinton B. and Edna (Boulier) Wheeler. Mrs. Robinson attended Butterfield School before graduating from Cunningham High School in 1938. After studying French and Latin at postgraduate school, she briefly attended Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston before returning home to help manage the family farm. In 1941, she began a career as catalog office manager at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield and Caribou, respectively. She retired from Sears in 1959. In 1955, Bea and Colby purchased the Airport Market, Caribou from her uncle, Perley Boulier. After Colby’s death in 1970, Mrs. Robinson continued the grocery business until it was sold in 1976. That same year, she became supervisor of the consumer loan department at Portland Savings Bank, Caribou, after which she became the manager of the Caribou branch of the Loring Federal Credit Union for several years until her retirement April 28, 1989. She attended the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Caribou and also services at Leisure Gardens, Presque Isle. She was also a member of the Caribou Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, Mrs. Robinson enjoyed cross-country skiing and was most passionate about riding her champion horse, Lady Patch. She was an avid reader and cribbage player. Her spirit and compassion for helping others lives on in her family and the lives she touched. Bea’s family wants to thank the staff and management of Leisure Gardens for the excellent care that she received. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne and son-in-law, Edgar T. Morin Jr., of Bristol, Conn.; grandson, Edgar T. Morin III and his wife, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Alexus, Matthew and Emma; granddaughter, Monica Reynolds; great-grandsons, Ethan and Jacob; granddaughter, Melissa and her husband, Thomas Lavan; great-grandsons, Aiden and Liam of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Myron Stinson of Clinton; nephew, Wayne Wheel and his wife, Marilyn, of Spragueville; several nieces and nephews, special friends and former co-workers. Friends may call 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, until time of services at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Services will be held 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. David Sutherland officiating. Interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Bea may do so through Leisure Gardens. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
