THORNDIKE – Bruce Walker passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in Waterville. He had battled cancer since November. Bruce will be fondly remembered for his community service. He spent many years on the Thorndike town planning board, the recycling committee and the board of appeals. He believed in the future and committed many years helping the youth in our community by volunteering for the Big Brothers program at Mountview Elementary School, delivering fresh fruit and vegetables to the Waterville Food Pantry, part of the diabetes project. He was a trustee for the Bioregional Conservancy Cultural and Reclamation Trust, whose goal is to promote stewardship of land and light by hosting youth programs. Bruce is survived by his wife, Louise Martin; their daughter, Rachael; his son, Jesse; his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Walker; his three brothers, Donald, Richard and Robert; and his sister, Jody. Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Thorndike Congregational Church.
