FARMINGDALE – Bruce E. Burke, 55, died June 6, 2008, with his wife at his side, at his home. He was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Calais, the son of Malcolm and Violet (Bryant) Burke of Pembroke. Mr. Burke had been employed for the city of Calais, city of Jefferson, N.H., and several independent contractors as a truck driver. He was employed by Dead River during the winter for several years. He was also employed by Dave Gould Ford, Ellsworth. Bruce was a member of Ellsworth Elks Lodge. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Bryon Burke. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Rowe-Burke, of Farmingdale; four daughters, Prudence Langer and Nancy Burke, both of El Cajon, Calif., Michelle and Lacey Burke of Manchester, N.H.; one son, Ronnie Burke of Eastport; a sister, June Gardiner of Whiting; five brothers, Malcolm “Buddy” Burke of Princeton, Franklin of Ellsworth, David of Calais, John of Fredericton, Canada, and Doug of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. June 29 at Ells-worth Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maine Children’s Cancer Foundation, care of Ellsworth Elks, P.O. Box 85, Ellsworth, ME 04605. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
