MEDWAY – Jim passed away at home unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 11, 2006, after a long illness. Jim was born in Millinocket, April 21, 1951, the son of Charles Boss and Orrise “Sis” (Farrington) Prosser. After graduating from Houlton High School in 1970, he moved to Medway and married Sherry Lea McLaughlin on July 22, 1972. He worked at Great Northern Paper Company as a machinist and craftsman. He retired from Great Northern around 2000. Jim served his state and country honorably in the Maine Army National Guard as a combat medic with the 314th Medical Company (Amb) from 1973 until his retirement in 1996. Jim enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and taking rides in the woods with his good friend, Ben Hansen. He would often reminisce about fishing trips with his best friend, Warren McLaughlin and he especially enjoyed his “big” fishing trip with his son, Jason in Alaska in 1998. Jim is survived by his wife and friend of 33 years, Sherry Prosser of Medway; his son, Jason Bryant Prosser and his wife, Kristine, of Fayette; daughter, Brandi Prosser and friend, Jason McLaughlin and grandson, Kevin McLaughlin, all of Medway, and son, Jamie Withee of Detroit; parents, Orrise and Lawrence Prosser of Roundhill, Ky.; mother-in-law, Eva McLaughlin of Medway; sister, Jane McLaughlin and husband, Leon, of Medway; brother, “Chuck” and wife, Linda Boss, of New York, brother, “Buster” and wife, Roxanne Prosser, of Caribou; sister, Beverly Lam of Brewer, “Little sister,” Jody Prosser of Arizona; sister, Barbara Comando of Maryland; sister, Lawre and husband, Calvin Gainey, of Kentucky. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his father, Charles Boss. Jim also will be missed by his fine-feathered friend, Bob the cockatiel. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, East Millinocket, officiated by Pastor Regginal Adams. Committal services with military honors will follow at Grindstone Cemetery, Medway. After the committal services, family and friends are invited to gather for refreshments and remembrances of Jim at the Gateway Inn.
