SHERMAN – Burton J. Hejduk, 87, died July 17, 2008, in Bangor. He was born July 7, 1921, in Cleveland, son of Emil and Eva (Bailey) Hejduk. Burton was a Navy “C.B.” veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific area. He married Glenna (Gould) Botting, Feb. 28, 1992, and they lived in Sherman for the last 10 years of their lives. He was a past master of Cushnoc Grange No. 204, Vasselboro; East Kennebec Pomona and Cumberland Pomona; an inactive member of Pleasant Valley Grange No. 136, Bethel and a past Pomona deputy. He was a Mason, a member of Eastern Star and the American Legion. He led a full and fruitful life. He leaves behind three children, John of Corinth, Texas, Linda Towne of Uncasville, Conn., and Sharon Putansu of Thomaston; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife of 50 years, Edith (Hutton), June 1990; and his second wife, Glenna, whom died five weeks earlier than him. A committal service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, at the Augusta Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, where he will lie next to his first wife.
