MARLBORO – Burton Wellesley Lockhart, 80, died Feb. 3, 2005, in Hancock. He was born in Bangor, Sept. 13, 1924, the son of Albert N. and Marian (Philbrook) Lockhart. Burton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the service he attended Utopia College studying business education in Eureka, Kan. graduating in 1948. Burton and Rosalie owned and operated the Town Motel in Bar Harbor for 30 years. They purchased the Luchini Restaurant in downtown Ellsworth where they operated the Burt & I Pool Hall and the Downtowner. Burton is survived by three sons, James Lockhart and his daughter, Malory, of Marlboro, Stephen Lockhart and his children, Stephanie, Brent, Maria and Sally, John Lockhart of New Hampshire; two daughters, Jane Briggs of Silver Springs, Fla., and Mary Racicot and husband, Joe, and daughters Jenny and Shelly of Hancock. He was predeceased by his wife Rosalie (Farnsworth) Lockhart, March 14, 2001. In the summer a gathering of friends and family will be held at the Log Cabin in Marlboro.
