CARIBOU – Byron A. Nelson, 75, died July 18, 2007, in Bangor. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in New Sweden, the son of Wilbert and Olga (Storkson) Nelson. He was a carpenter and mechanic for several years. He loved music, playing at local nursing homes and veterans’ homes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Byron was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Up State New York. He is survived by his wife, Stella (Morin) Nelson of Caribou; a son, Byron Nelson of North Carolina; a brother, Wilbur Nelson of Bath, N.Y.; three sisters, Katherine Irving of Caribou, Martha Justus of Michigan and Reta Ohaviao and her husband, Bob, of Cape Cod; a grandson, Michael; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Britney; and a favorite nephew, Calvin Lund of Caribou. He was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Nelson; and a brother, Elwin Nelson. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rowe officiating.
