CALVIN A. NILE CLIFTON – Calvin A. Nile, the best man ever, 68, died Sept. 23, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family after a brief and difficult battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 18, 1937 in East Corinth to Percy and Irma Nile of Ellsworth. Calvin served with the U.S. Navy for 10 years, the U.S. Army for 17 years and U.S. Army National Guard 112th Medical Corps for 17 years. He was also retired from the Bangor Police Department parking enforcement division. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, rock hound and all around outdoorsman. One of his favorite things to do was to spend a day with his family at the coast. Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gloria J. Nile of Clifton; their children, Tammy Robertson and her husband, Ron Frost, of Newburg, Vennessa Buckley and her fianc?, Scott Archer of Lantana, Fla., May Brown of Eddington, and Chris A. Nile and wife, Jacki, of Eddington. Also survived by a brother, Bryan Saunders and wife, Pam, of Auburn; sister, Marie Hatch of Clifton and sister, Marlana Buckley and husband, Bruce, of Glenburn. He was also papa to his grandchildren, Mindy Froehlich and boyfriend, Dominick Robbins of Clifton, Ryan Robertson and girlfriend, Candi Diamond, Karen Brown and boyfriend, Demian Quimby, Jeffrey Froehlich, Daniel Brown, Cassie Nile, Ashley Nile, and Meghan Nile; eight great-grandchildren, Travis, Makayla, Breyanna, Kitana, Jordan, Devin, Korbin and Destiny; a special great-nephew, Deric LaPlante; many special nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. So many friends and all of the people whose hearts he touched. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer where funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, with Pastor Vondel Allen, pastor of the Clifton United Baptist Church officiating.
